Hi and thanks a lot for the very interesting information.
I understand that this DC in the mains could be a quite common issue.
Like also toroidal transformers are very common in audio equipment.
Actually they are the usual choice.
Could EI transformers be a better solution ? maybe in the low consumption devices like sources and preamps ?
At present i am doing some tests with cheap dacs needing a 12VDC power supply.
I experience a better sound with a power supply equipped with a EI transformer. I have then bought a lab power supply also with EI transformer due to arrive soon.
A so called " high end PS " but with a toroidal sounds inferior to me.
The sound is much more confused (i associate this with more noise reaching the circuits) and flat (lack of dynamics, maybe also a result of higher noise from the mains).
So i would vote for EI transformers any day.
