If you can stretch your budget a bit past 3k, and can find one on the used market, I recommend the Neodio NR-600 Signature. I was able to purchase a used model for around 3200.00 - and it's by far the best integrated I've heard/owned. Do a search on Audiogon. Bob Heinz mentioned that he replaced his Air Tight300b/Joule Electra 300ME combo with it, and the improvement was NOT subtle :)
I use it with my Merlin VSM-MXe's with Master BAM, and it's clearly better than my previous integrated amps, including BAT VK-300x-SE (also great though), Electrocompaniet EC-3, Primare I-30, Ayre AX-7, YBA Integre Passion, etc. More tube-like than any SS amp I've heard, but with Class A immediacy and zero listening fatigue.
