RE: Switching amps - coming of age

I'm not an engineer and I do believe that class D amps are improving a ton. But I had some thoughts about class D and whether they can surpass conventional circuits that I asked Nelson Pass about and he thought my ideas were sound.

However the one amp employing class D that really intrigues me is the Deavilet where the class D amp is only used to supply current to a signal that is amplified voltage wise by a good small conventional amp. Theoretically the sound quality should be that of the voltage amp and yet power wise you would get the efficiency of a class D amp.
