I owned both the Cary 500MB monos and newer SA500.1 monos.
Bass was fatter with the 500MBs, and tighter/more dynamic with the 500.1s, which type of bass you like better would be personal preference. Otherwise, IMO, the 500MBs were musical, enjoyable and amps I was happy to live with while the newer 500.1s seemed sterile, less musical and amps that did not give me satisfaction over the long haul.
