I'm thinking of 3 way speaker project. The woofer I have in mind will go to the low 30s in a very small closed box. But it's low efficiency, much lower than the mid ranges I'm thinking about. So I thought of a separate amp for the woofer. And at that point why not tri-amping(using passive bandwidth limiting at the amp input)? That means the amps don't have to drive a crossover, just a driver. In order to keep the cost only slightly unreasonable the Emotiva XPA-3 3 channel amp caught my attention. Any thoughts on the quality of this or Emotiva amps in general for a fairly high end powered speaker. Anything would be helpful. Or any other amp thoughts that aren't crushingly costly. I like the 3 channel format to limit it to one amp box per speaker. Thanks.
