I've been farting around with passives for both my SS and tube gear. My recent experiment - a IR remote did not pan out very well. A sonic false start.

So maybe for the holidays I'll look into a Placette volume control. I figure I can use it for a line level to control the volume of the input on my vintage tube gear. And use it as a passive for my new SS gear. So it would help for both my new and old setups.

Yeah I know I said I wouldn't get one!!!! But hey - I've been wrong before. And I'm sure I'll be wrong again??

A side note. I've tried various volume controls for my passive. And I found the more expensive the control, ie even $100+, the less I cared for it. To date the humble RadioShack 100k alps pot for $5 seems to be the cleanest, clearest I've used.
