I hear yhou and understand where you are coming from. I've used my Emotiva UPA-1 amps and USP-1 preamp for a couple of years now in my TV room. I enjoy the sound very much.

I also have a separate dedicated music room with Magneplanar 1.7's, a Conrad Johnson MF 2300A amp/ Jolida 502 amp and a Mapletree tube preamp. Nonetheless I find myself often enjoying my morning coffee in the TV room (beautiful view of the forest from there) while playing regular music and it sounds wonderful. Lots of opinions on that brand. For myself, I'm completely happy with both systems.
