I am using my pre-amp on the 12db setting. I think the reason George Wright made the pre-amp like this is so it could be used with low power SET's which he sold a couple of. That is what I thought, a solid state around 100wpc or less, or tube amp, I had a 6550 push pull but may like to try set.
