Yamaha C-50, C-70, C-80

We have the following Yamaha equipment:

C-50 pre
C-70 pre
C-80 pre (customer's repaired)

We just fixed the C-80 (bad matched FET pairs, difficult to source). This is a very good-sounding preamp, and though it looks quite similar to both the C-50 and C-70 it sounds MUCH better. Better bass, especially. Nothing sounds wrong in the C-70, until it's replaced with the C-80, the rest of the system staying the same. We've played vinyl, a tuner (nice Yamaha T-70) and a couple of disks.

I was expecting to hear no difference or some slight differences, not a world of difference.

Has anyone had a chance to compare these Yamaha preamps head to head? What was your experience?
