I've seen many components with faded anodizing, and none suffered from failure. The issue is more poor processing for the anodized finish. After an acid soak the part is dipped in a water soluble dye and boiled (literally) in order to fix the dye into the enlarged metal pores. If the boiling is insufficient, the dye will eventually leach out and fade.
