A quick google does seem to support saying sound energy is independent of frequency. But, I'm not sure that makes sense. It takes more energy to vibrate something 20,000 times per second than 40.

There is no particularly amplitude attached to a particular frequency. Low frequency sound at a given amplitude should carry less energy than highs at the same amplitude.
