Thanks for your response. As you say things are different from room to associated equipment but it is an example not to take reviews as gospel. Did your dealer say or recommend anything? It's interesting you didn't get the bass detail, the reviewers didn't mention detail to my memory in so many words but did say things like "iron grip control", " high damping factor", things that typically allow for good bass detail, not to mention the digital output stage.

My prior amp was Conrad Johnson, I'm using a Threshold now, the reason for the change was to get a bit more neutral while not losing the emotion or musicality I've grown accustom to from the CJ. From the Threshold performance I was considering a Pass Labs but they stretch the budget to be sure.
