I suppose it's nit-picking but I wouldn't call that an error so much as an artifact.
Thanks to your pinnae, well actually your HRTF in general, your clever brain can usually tell where sound is coming from and since identical signals launched at two points in space is completely unnatural it doesn't seem likely that you'd miss it...
