No idea how the plugs are configured. I looked at their website (a real mess) and found nothing about that.
BTW it is generally accepted that a 10dB reduction is perceived as about half as loud. That is all subjective so a 12 dB drop may be a lot less than you expected, but without information about the plug it is just a guess as to how much it is really attenuating the signal.
