The consensus on the audiogon board was that it does not sound as good as the 33H or 33 amplifiers. Class D is the future however. Rising energy prices, Euro standards, and small package with High power low heat offerings make Class D amplifers very appealing. High End manufacturers simply realize they have to adapt to the new demands and standards if they want to turn a profit. I realize Class D technology is in it's infancy but conventional SS amps have failed to capture the magic of tubes so I doubt switching amplifiers will accomplish this feat!!
I have owned the JRDG 201's and were not impressed with them. I bought a pair of Bel Canto M300's and were quite smitten with them. They sounded very smooth and relaxed. They lacked some transparency and tended to sound a bit congested but I was impressed. There are plenty of supporters for Class D amplifiers. As a tube guy I will hold on to my VAC amps as long as possible!!
