FWIW, I am also a big fan of most Cary gear having replaced my Premier 11a, PV-14L, Premier 18LS, with Cary. This was a few years back.
The Cary SLP-98 and SLP-05 seemed more dynamic and alive with greater frequency extension (no roll off at the extremes). They are also very transparent yet full-bodied and warm with excellent soundstage & imaging.
The (now discontinued) AES/Cary SixPac EL34 monoblocks were similarly more dynamic and robust, with deeper more impactful bass vs the more costly Premier 11a. The Premier 11a is a nice amp for sure but the SixPacs made it sound almost anemic in comparison. Perhaps a pair of Premier 12's would have been a closer match - but at several times the cost.
