Bryston: Wow, not how I remember it

I've been playing the Bryston 7BSST2 for a couple hours now. These are not 'hard', 'harsh', or 'bright'. They're actually pretty smooth, very articulate with excellent transparency and resolution. Bass definition is outstanding, not just deep and impactful but able to sort out the subtleties between very low notes - unlike the class D ICEpower amps I have owned.

The Brystons are refreshingly 'clear' sounding across the board but no midrange robustness or weight like I hear in the Manley tube amps. Which is better? I don't know. I need more time with the Brystons and I suspect that it's not a matter of which is 'better' but probably comes down to personal preference. At least these Brystons are 'in the game' unlike the ones I remember from a few years ago. More later.
