I've had this amp for years and years and it's been very enjoyable.
It has the classical attributes you want in a big push-pull tube design: big spacious sound image, has the omph for large orchestral works, and has very appealing tonal production. Jazz and tubes are just made for each other.
This kind of amp is not the ultimate in clarity -- compared with some SS designs or with SET. Of course. I get a little bit of hum with mine; I don't know if that's because it's had a hard life, but in any case I don't hear it at my listening seat with normal speakers (e.g. not horns etc.). Of course, this thing has a lot of tubes so it does warm up the room a bit. Great in Winter! Not so great in Summer!
What speakers are you planning to use? Small room? Big room?
