Wbick one is better depends on your ears and your system. In my system, back in the 90's, I heard the KRC 2,3 and HR versions. The 2 was the easiest to listen to, the others had more resolution but weren't as musical to me. Conrad Johnson is my preamp of choice these days. If you decide to go down that path, the CT-5 is nice. It's teflon caps just keep getting better as it ages.
