My dearly loved Arcam AVR300 is making an intermittent crackle/popping popcorn noise. I just bought new speakers for HT, and don't want to blow them out with this noise. I'm guessing the problem will be hard to find because it's intermittent. So it's a good time to upgrade. What are your suggestions for separates that would at least equal the Arcam's sound? Music is more important than than movies. The HT speakers are the new PSB Imagine Series, with a sub. I like the British sound. My 2 channel system is Spendor SP 1/2s, powered by LFD Mistral Amp and Preamp. I'd like to spend about $3000 for a Pre/Pro and Amp for HT. Used stuff would be fine. I'd love to see your suggestions! Thank you.
