DIY a single-ended 6bm8 or 6gw8; lots of such circuts on the www if you google. These tubes comprise a small triode & beam tetrode in one envelope = just two tubes for a complete stereo amplifier. Either use the output section in beam tetrode (pentode) mode or strap the beam-forming plates (ala screen grid) for psuedo-triode mode. And you may just like such a circut all year 'round.
