The problem with some conventional passive preamps has been a loss of dynamics and bass.

The autoformer attenuator like the ones found in the Sonic Euphoria PLC does not suffer these ill effects since it is capable of delivering more output than input. Current is the real muscle behind the signal that gives it strength for good dynamics and bass.

There's a fair amount of misunderstanding out there regarding transformer and autoformer based attenuators.

Whether a "conventional" passive or a transformer/autoformer attenuator, if each is delivering x voltage to the load, then by definition they are each delivering the same amount of current. The transformer/autoformer doesn't shove more current through the load than the "conventional" passive.
