The RL11 is a class A active preamp.

FWIW, it is the same exact unit as the L10/ls10- just with a remote. It is indeed a nice sounding unit but they command too much $ on the used market to consider them good values IMO.

I think you can do better for the same or less- but the NAD would not be my reccomendation either.
