I have come across the following notion, in summary:
Certain amplifiers become unstable when high frequency signal (well above audible range) of sufficient amplitude is brought into its input, and as a consequence create distortions in audible range, manifested usually as unpleasant HF sound.
For these reasons such amplifiers work well with digital sources of older generation that upsample/oversample at relatively lower frequency (e.g. 8X) and have steep brick filters, thus sending very small amount of signal above audible range into the amp.
But if a relatively new generation of digital sources are used, that upsample/oversample in MHz range (e.g. 32X or more) in order to have less steep and more benign filters, a sufficient level of ultra high frequency signal will be brought into the amplifier and cause its instability.
Can anyone attest to such claims?
If so, which amps would fall into this category, and which ones would be a good choice?
