it would be more of a question as to how _long_ the loud sound would last. I'd bet on less than an hour of rather messy-sounding playback.

In all fairness, your needs far exceed your budget.

If all you want to do is to use an iPod for a source, then check with your local used guitar/music store for old-school PA cabinets and an old amplifier. Then use an RCA to 1/8" jack to connect the 'pod to the amp's 1/4" line level inputs. Get the guy at the store to help you with that part. It still going to be over $200 but it _will_ get loud and _will_ last through the abuse.
