Replacing tubes in MF X-Pre. What's the trick to taking the faceplates off?

Hi,

I have a musical fidelity X-Pre (the round canister preamp). One of the 6DJ8's finally went fully microphonic and needs to be replaced. But when I remove the screws on front and back....you can't pull the boards forward, because the rear part won't come off....and you can't pull the boards through the rear because there are two attachments to the front LED?

Is there a trick to this that I just can't seem to figure out?
