The aluminum wire is available from any good electronics store. I still have a spool magnepan sent me when I reworked the mid/bass panels on my Tympani 1d's, but later found it was locally available from Mark's Electronics in Beltsville MD and Electronics Plus, also in Beltsville (both not far from me). The glue is a spray on adhesive--3M #77, available in most hardward stores. If you are really concerned about diaphram weight I would recommend spraying the wire in an open frame and then applying the frame to the mylar rather than spraying the mylar and leaving all that extra glue where it was not needed. I simply sprayed the mylar, and applied the frame (which I built for the purpose), then released the wire from the frame and made my connections. The panels I did sound very good, and since you have to cover the whole thing with the UV sealant (a heavy gloppy substance itself) when you are through, it didn't seem to me that the added weight of the glue was much of a factor--but it may be more critical on the tweeters since higher frequencies are driven by less current--but that is just speculation on my part. If you like I would be happy to discuss the process at greater length--building the frames; removing the old voice coil; repairing holes in the mylar; making aluminum soldering connections; etc. Simply send me an email at 59mercedes@msn.com
