i'm glad to see that someone here is supporting the scraps of claims i've been hearing about the panasonic class-d recievers being "giant killers" available for beans.i'm REALLY starting to like the idea of the XR50s bigger brother, the XR70 as it's the only affordable class d HT reciever at the moment and i'm dying to get maggies in my home.
everywhere i read a review for a classs d amp, from the $30 sonic impacts, to the $350 flying mole monoblocks, to $2000 bel cantos all the way up to $20,000 halcros, the amps are getting thumbs ups to outright raves. it has to have something to do with class-d's extreme efficiency i bet.
at the extreme budget end, there are cults forming around sonic impacts, hypex DIYs and even the panasonics.
as much as i love my onkyo with my superzeros, i think it's time to go panasonic so i can get the maggies i want so bad.
thanks for mentioning the panny. could you give a brief description of it's sound? from what i've heard (common to MOST 100wpc class Ds) is that they're great until you push them too hard (not an issue with me) and one review claimed that the X50 was a little noisy, but it's rated for 103 dB S/N.
how do it's amps and D/A converters sound compared to other gear you have experience with? panasonic is REALLY starting to get me jazzed about upgrading my system.
