What worng in my listen room for Maggie 1.6

Hi!
(I am french... so my English not so good! 8-) )
I have Magneplanars 1.6QR and I want to improve my sound.
I didn't have real problem before move in my new home.
Before, my listen room configuration was not at all same as now. Floor was in wood with no near wall on one side.
Now my sound is a way too bright.
I would have somes suggestions to improve my sound. I lack bass .. So I play louder to have some feeling and the Highs hurt my ears. I have try to put resistor on my planars but sound still hurt and I miss something ... So I removed it.
I have inverted my magnepans to have tweeter far the side wall to make them less reflectives.

(Floor to top, I have 8" height. Floor is a carpet. Walls are normal walls! 8-)
MG1.6 to read wall 33inch and about same for the side walls.
My stereo system was Linn Kairn Pro with bi-amp Linn LK-100 (95 watts in 4 ohms). I have try ARC VT100MK1 and bass and mids filling up my listen room a lot more but I was lacking highs! 8-) Probably because I was using my Linn Preamp with the VT100.
I will buy completely new stereo system in 1 week.

I will probably go for ARC SP16 with ARC VS110 (tube 100 watts). For CD will probably be Naim CD5 or Rega Jupiter. I will try that this weekend (I don't buy before listen! I have cool dealer permit me to try those before make a decision).
