I've found Maggies do need to be run in at listening levels plus the definitely need lots of power behind them.My old Quicksilvers and ARC Classic 60 were adequate but they really came alive with my old Counterpoint hybrids (too bad the amps were not that great sounding), my old Plinius could light them up as well. Currently using a small Jadis and Krell integrated on the 1.6. Preference is for the Krell...
If your 1.6's are new, give them more time to run in, go put some music on now and crank it up !
I love jazz too and when run in the 1.6 does a great job with Coltrane, Davis, Monk and the rest of the gang. Even Jazz At The Pawnshop is fun.
If you can't decide why not keep both pairs of Maggies ?
I've still got my very old MG-1b's as well as a pair of ProAc 3.8's, for those rare moments when I need to really rock out :)
