Actually, IMHO the 3.6 isn't "hands down" the best. I think the 3.6's are fabulous sounding and in *some* ways are better than 1.6's. The 1.6's strong points are cohesiveness and timbre. These qualities are magnified when they are updated using better XO parts (the Hovland caps and Alpha Core coils). I was planning on upgrading to 3.6 within the year before I updated my 1.6 XO's - now the thought doesn't even cross my mind.
