This is a followup to my previous post: http://www.audioasylum.com/forums/MUG/messages/15784.html from 8 months ago in which I detailed my attempt to purchase a pair of factory closeout Magnepan MG10.1 from an add placed on this site by Guy Brummel. Now after a year of waiting I have yet to get the speakers, and have had nothing but broken promises and delays for my trouble. Since Brummel uses magnepan.com and conradjohnson.com email addresses for his operation he gives the impression of being legitimate. But his dealings suggest otherwise. I have asked several times for a refund of my money. He says he will repay my money plus 10% to demonstrate his "good faith," but the months have passed without any refund or speakers. So much for good faith.
His last email said the speakers shipped at Christmas time. Can anyone confirm this? It is no use asking Magnepan about this as they clearly don't care and can't be believed anyway. I know from emails I received from my last post that there are others in the same boat as I, so Brummel is probably sitting on several thousand dollars of our money. I also have a friend who sent Brummel his $700US for speakers and has likewise received nothing. My friend has a number of contacts in Canada and has lined up a lawyer to handle the problem. If anyone else in this forum would like to sign onto this, and the more the merrier, please feel free to email me direct.
