Subwoofer upgrade?

I have been running a Janis W-1 subwoofer with my Acoustat Spectra 22s for a couple of years now, got it for cheap off of CL and it looks very cool. The Interphase amp it came with was defective so I have been using a Dayton SA230 subwoofer amp set at about 60 Hz and it seems to get the job done. Acoustats are running full range.

I also have a B&W ASW650 subwoofer that is hooked up for home theater which rarely gets used.

My question is given the Janis W-1 is almost 40 years old would it be considered obsolete? Would the B&W sub I already own be an upgrade for music? The Janis seems to integrate okay with the Spectras but then maybe I just don't know what I'm missing.
