Suspending Maggie's is an excellent option. But you don't need to do anything at the base.
Attach some extended screws high up on the speakers, some screw-eyes in your ceiling, and use some poly line to suspend them. They will hang pendulum style and be absolutely still unless something/someone brushes by them.....or you have an earthquake.
