RE: Amps for Maggies. Tube vs SS (I've searched)

Thank you all for your helpful responses. My dedicated listening room is quite small which rules out the larger Magnepans. Biamping the MMG's or .7's is a possibility as is a pair of excellent powered subs. About a year ago I listened to the 1.7's at a local high-end dealer which were powered by a smallish Audio Research tube amp- I was surprised at how good the bottom end was. My MMG's are at least 13 years or more old, and may be compromised now that I think further. Pardon my oversight.

I like having both dynamic and planar speakers so I can vary the nature of my listening experience. As I said, the Sonus Fabers sound wonderful powered by the MFA amps. I am planning on auditioning a pair of .7's locally and will bring my own tubes amps. The MFA's are rated @ 120 wpc into 8 ohms. That will be very informative indeed!
