You can block the bottom slot formed when you raised the maggie off the floor with a board and get back a little of the bass by closing out the dipole acoustic short circuit on the bottom. It is going to be noticeable in increased bass but not give all of it back. The main loss in bass is from the increased distance from the floor, where floor bounce increased available bass relative to the raised position. Simple boundary loading that was lost.
