RE: Tympani IV rebuild, is mid panel flat ribbon a desirable upgrade ?

Agreed with Guitar Slim

The TIVa mids are longer so can handle the lower freq reach of the IVa crossover. The TIV mids can not.

Using the flat ribbon wire is a good idea for both durability and better damping of the diaphragm. It also stiffens the diaphragm slightly and might reduce the bass resonance around 900 hz.
