The TIVa mids are longer so can handle the lower freq reach of the IVa crossover. The TIV mids can not.
Using the flat ribbon wire is a good idea for both durability and better damping of the diaphragm. It also stiffens the diaphragm slightly and might reduce the bass resonance around 900 hz.
