Acoustic treatments when mixing Magnepans and "normal" speakers in same room

To make a long story short, I want a Magnepan HT and a "normal" (box speaker) 2-channel system (don't ask the reasons unless you want a long response) in the same room (sealed, carpeted, probably acoustic tile ceiling, 28 x 21 x 8) of a house I'm designing. I've read a bit about room treatments and as usual with most things in this hobby there's a bit of disagreement between the experts. Ethan Winer of RealTraps says if anything, dipoles require more absorption on the front wall. Linkwitz says they require diffusion. By room treatments I'm talking about the real things - bass traps, clouds, acoustic panels, diffusers, etc. So, is dipole treatment different than box speaker treatment, and will one hurt the other? What have you heard/experienced regarding treatments for front wall, first reflection points, rear wall, etc.? Thanks
