There is no problem like that. The razoring controls ringing of the magnet board - which is not going to change the FR, just reduce self-noise. Same is true for damping the steel frame. That would damp transverse waves which are also self noise. The mod is known to increase clarity and perceived precision.
You can get some of the same results by using the bow and arrow mod. But razoring would be a more thorough scheme.
In neither of these mods is the mylar contacted by the damping material. It only goes on the steel.
That said, it is reversible.if you don't happen to like it.
