high pass the quads at 80Hz or so and you will have all the dynamics and bass you need!
Set the subs at either side of the room at the "null" - where the dipole response nulls based on toe in angle.
Two cheaper subs better than one expensive sub. Two expensive subs much better than one expensive sub.
