Time sensitive - Would 1.6 be too big for my room ?

Just came across a great deal on a pair of 1.6 to replace my MMGs.

Room is 27"x12", I sit in the middle of the long wall, facing a fireplace. Currently MMGs, on their original feet (with a sub) are about 3-4 feet away from the back wall, 6-8 feet apart.

If I placed the 1.6 in a similar position, are they likely to work well?

I am looking for more dynamics at somewhat higher levels and better treble.
