Maybe not exactly the same but here is my experience using a Parasound HCA-1205A vs. an Emotiva XPA-5, both 5 channel amps. The Parasound is slightly warmer and has a deeper sound stage than the Emotiva. The Emotiva being that it is the more powerful of the two amps, provided fuller bass than the Parasound with a more up front sound stage presentation. Both were compared on my Magnepan IIIas with Mye Stands. Either amp sounded very good on my Magnepans, it depends what you are looking for. And having heard a couple of the Parasound A series amps, they have more of that Parasound magic than my Parasound HCA amp had to offer. Addressing the lack of bass and provided more clarity and realism with the mids and highs.
