Have not heard the Vanguard, but at 400 watts into 4 ohms you should be fine...IMHO...a very good choice...
Are you looking at the Vanguard or the Vanguard digital?
I have not heard any of the JL Audio subs, so I cannot comment on that...but with Maggies it is all about getting them to blend...
Sounds like that combo of the Krell and Maggie 1.7i's should be a good match...IMHO...
