During their day Magnepan dealers demonstrated those speakers with the D70/76 variants, and was able to sell significant numbers of the them. I don't think that during an audition any potential buyer accepted only low levels of output before laying down their $$$. A little bit later in time the dealer I frequented used the original ARC D150 (and probably because he thought he might be able to earn some big bucks).
