My Acoustat 2+2 sounded great with a KT120 Push Pull tube amp, but I slightly prefer my SS Class A amps on them. I currently have my ICEpower 1000ASP on them, and they drop out a bit when pushed (ICEPowers do NOT like Capacitive Loads like these ESLs). The Aleph 5 and Krell KSA-50 clones work better than the KT120 tube amp when pushing the 2+2.
In a pinch, you can try the Crown Drivecore XLS2000 (or XLS2500, but not XLS1000) - they are cheap and can really make them sing, albeit a bit harsh on HF, but the tube pre should help quite a bit. A great buy for $250 new on ebay. Pretty much same HF issues as the Brystons, but at 1/10 the price...
