generally speaking Maggies desire roughly 3' away from the side walls, 3' out from the rear

Obviously you can shave that back a bit if you had to; but If you can manage that, you're rounding 3rd base.

I've got the original 20s in a 17'x 18' room but taking the cue from pictureguy's signature line: "Too much is never enough".

I'm looking at my room now and I can't imagine shaving away 5'.

Relatively speaking I once had MG 1.6s in a 10'x8' room and although they played magnificent music, I didn't want to be in the room for very long. But that's just me, everyone has different experiences. Good luck-
