RE: Horizontal, anyone?

Magnepan had a vertical version once. Their 1st HT had MGSS1 surrounds. They were their 1st wall mounted Maggies. They swiveled to edge face the listener so as to project the dipole field of maximum interference. This makes for a diffuse sonic image.

FWIW, the MGSS1 was a single driver (no XO). Crossovers with phasing don't work as well at those frequencies. I haven't worked out the math as to why it happens. At this point it's merely an observation. Perhaps it's lobing.

My rears were horizontal, but like that of Maggie center channel. That was to slightly blunt pinpoint imaging in my rear channels, because I find such imaging distracting.
