The MMGs came with the aftermarket "vertical" stands attached, so I introduced them to my system that way. I found the overall balance "uncomfortable" - not only was the tweeter balance sort of "edgy" but the soundstage didn't feel coherent. With the factory feet much better.
I've got the tweeters on the inside. I also think the MMG's are a crazy good bargain- especially at Craigslist prices! My other speakers are Sonus Faber Liuto Monitors which I love. I'd say that the Magnepans are more "analytical" but not cold. It's simply a different listening experience. I'm not sure if I prefer one over the other at this point. I feel fortunate to have both.
