Dave - thanks for that clarification... that it's deliberate. Great - I never assumed otherwise. But the question remains... why?
Is it a design compromise, to allow them to use a particular crossover? For while many manufacturers might do it - as you say - it is not ideal.
Or so I'm given to understand.
