RE: Too big?

There is such a thing but it depends on the reflectivity of the room surfaces and whether you are trying to produce substantial bass.The main thing other than bass that disappears is dynamics and with it any sense of vividness to the music, Hence the "dead" description from Swami

I would not put a 3.x in a room bigger than 20X30 and don't expect that to work without a sub. I would not hesitate to suggest a 20.X for that size room but warn of the probable need for a sub(s). But get that significantly bigger in more than one dimension and you will have a problem.That would be close to the ideal size for a Tympani IV or IVa, though they do well with substantially less room than that..
